Can Pacquiao Beat De La Hoya?

This is a serious question.

Definitely there's no doubt that Manny Pacquiao is a great Fighter, having 4 titles all at one. Pacquiao's latest fight against Diaz was triumphant despite the big adjustment on the part of the Philippine Superstar Boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. But can Manny Pacquiao defeat Oscar "Golden Boy" De La Hoya. Fighting De La Hoya requires another big adjustment for Manny in terms of weight among others. Even if Pacman balloons enough to the required pounds, this is not his comfort zone.

Age wise, De La Hoya is older at 35 years old while Pacquiao is younger by 6 years, being only 29 years old. This might be an advantage but this does not always follow. Experience wise, De La Hoya is an experienced fighter. He is no ordinary fighter. Oscar dela Hoya stands at 5'10 compared to Manny Pacquiao's 5'6. He could be Pacquiao's toughest adversary in the ring.

Pacquiao has few months to prepare and hopefully bring home another honor to the Filipino race.

In an email sent to the Inquirer, Pacquiao agreed to the December match and promised a fiery bout for the fans and of course another glorious victories moment.

Pacquiao's statement:

“I have agreed in principle to accept the Dec. 6 fight against Oscar De La Hoya. This will be the toughest test in my boxing career because of the reach and height advantage of my esteemed opponent, aside from his great boxing skills,"

“This fight, however, will not be a walk in the park for Oscar De La Hoya. The boxing fans will see the same fire and intensity they have witnessed in my previous fights.”

“I will frustrate the desire of Oscar De La Hoya to avenge the defeats of the great Mexican boxers who lost to me,” “I am dedicating this forthcoming fight to my countrymen and all the boxing fans all over the world.”
